Any NYC private schools with a 2nd grade spot open in September

Join Parents League. They maintain lists like that. Unlimited advising appointments, too. Their advisors are former admissions specialists from many of the coveted schools.

I would call the admissions offices for any schools you would be interested in. There is a lot of movement at most schools with families leaving the city.
