Removing semi permanent dye

I used natural instincts dye over 2 months ago to go a dark color on my medium brown hair. I loved the look but now that it's summer it feels way too dark and hasn't faded much. I typically don't dye my hair at all. Is there a way to get this to fade quicker?

You could try a color zap kit and see if that lifts it, but just be aware that it may leave you with a lot of brassiness.

Some ideas I've read about to get rid of permanent color; they should work for semi-permanent, as well:

1) Head and shoulders shampoo (apparently it takes a number of washes)

2) vitamin C capsules, crushed up and mixed with shampoo and left on hair for a while (I have read that this is drying to hair, but will help take the color out)

Thanks...I read the same. I've been using head and shoulders for over a week. No noticable difference, and my hair is dry and unhappy (I'm usually strict curly girl/co wash only). I tried vitamin c but I don't have a pill crusher so it was just gritty and sat in my hair....I don't think it could have done anything.

Op again, ok so I was only able to lightly crush the vitamin C, but then I dissolved it in hot water. Going to mix that with the head and shoulders!

I don't know of anything that works. I have been using semi permanent for a long time and the color changes/fades to a weird red, but it never goes away. I have a gray streak and it's white-gray at the roots and always has a lot of color lower down on the hair, even though it's been washed a hundred times.

OP - I used a Wella Charm semi in light brown and it turned my hair an almost black shade. My hairdresser said my choices are to bleach, then recolor my hair or as my hair grows, it will eventually get cut out.

Dish soap (Dawn, etc.). It will be drying as all get out, so follow up with a deep conditioner or oil treatment. It might also make it brassy, so you should consider a blue shampoo or treatment, too. My hairdresser recommends Matrix for the blue stuff.
