Good lunch options near White House

Anonymous
Hi! I am not in DC but I need a Father's Day gift for someone who is. I am pretty sure his office is near the White House. Definitely NW.

I thought of getting a gift card for some place he can pick up lunch near work. Any ideas? If not, maybe a great coffee place? Thank you!

The Smith - 901 F Street NW.

Great for power lunches or afterwork happy hours.

Old Ebbitt Grill - 675 15th Street NW.

Good if you want to impress a boss.

District Taco - 1309 F Street NW.

If your friend is just looking for cheap, fast casual lunch - can't go wrong with District Taco.

Teaism is great for lunch, and if they don't want lunch they have a shop with lots of interesting stuff too.

These are decent recs but very very very different. The smith is upscale gastro-grill.
Don’t do Old Ebbitt Grill right now. Too many Republicans; it’s a trumper hangout.
Try Rose’s Luxury or minibar.
District Taco is about the best fast food there is. So good.

My spouse works right by the White House (think: near the Renwick). Based on where he would meet his buddies for a drink or dinner after work, I would do Bindaas, Duke’s Grocery, or Blue Duck Tavern (the last one is a bit further).

Also, in that little pocket, Swing’s is my hubby’s favorite coffee shop.

There was an article a bit ago about Old Ebbitt maybe not surviving the shut-down so not sure about a gift card for that, but maybe all the restaurants are in the same boat?
District Taco is pretty far from White House.
Rose's Luxury and minibar aren't anywhere near WH, so I don't know what the PP was thinking.

I also think Duke's Grocery is farther than I would want to walk from the WH for lunch, but maybe not if by WH, you mean west of the white house. From east of the WH, it would be a long haul.

I like Siroc.
If he likes fried Chicken or southern food generally, there's always Georgia Brown's.
Bombay Club is very good and right there.
The Oval Room and Equinox are both very close to the white house and very good.
Luke's lobster is also pretty close.

No. It's not.

There's one not even two blocks from the White House east entrance.

Maybe he likes Republicans. And even if not, it's not going to ruin lunch. Now two parties can't eat at the same establishments? Grow up!
