During test run with teacher last week, no issues when joined with iPad. This morning, the video camera points to room and not child's face. We do not see a button to flip the camera (like you would with iPhone while doing Facetime). If anyone knows how to correct this, would SO appreciate reply.
Oh and if wondering why asking here - we were on phone with Blackboard Collaborate support line this morning, and unfortunately even after researching with us on the line (and being super nice), they need to put in ticket and can get back to us by end of week. 100% can wait patient for that reply, but thought worth the shot to ask here if anyone does by chance know a simple "just click this" fix. Thanks again, |
Turn the camera off. |
This. My DS said no one is using the camera function except maybe 1 or 2 people out of 30+. Teachers don't care, and some have even turned all of them off. Don't waste your time on it. |
OP writing - Best answers. Thanks! |
All of our teachers are asking students not to turn on cameras or mics due to the bandwidth issues. |
Our teachers disabled the cameras, and only turned the mics off after a lengthy discussion of when they should be used and practice muting, unmuting, raising hands, etc. |
Put a piece of tap or a sticky note over the camera |
I think is banal to say just turn off the camera ( for sure you did that). Strange thing, I really do not know what could be the problem, maybe it is a system problem. In general usually such systems always have problems. Guys if you are interested in becoming photographer you can find here https://improvevideostudio.com/best-cameras-for-beginners/ the best guide for choosing a good beginners camera. I think it will be useful for you or students cause I found my first camera with their help. |
My friend was just looking for this information. Thanks |
This happened to us and I did same to call Blackboard help desk first as presumed easy fix, but they also had no clue and ultimately "submitted ticket" and never got back to us. FCPS IT, however, replied within an hour of my writing them with the fix that worked for us. Sorry that I cannot find their email that was worded much better/more clearly, but here's my attempt to explain. Good luck.
From the meeting page in bottom-right corner there is a purple (color for us) block with 2 brackets - the brackets look like "less than signs" so like this << If you click that, it opens "my settings" and from there you will see your profile name and under that "Audio and Video Settings" and a link t that says "set up your camera and microphone" - when you click "set up your camera and microphone" your main screen will change to see "Audio test (1 of 2) and if sound is working click box that says "Yes, Audio is working" and then it says "us.bbcollab.com" would like to access the camera" - click "allow" and then the main screen says "Video test (2 of 2)" and there should now be box where see video - under that is box is option for "back camera" and "front camera' and you click the one you want and then to exit you click "Yes, video is working." The other thing that happened to us is camera would go sideways during class - for that, go to the same video test page and turn the ipad to 90 degrees to switch the display and then continue on. |
