i'm supposed to test my peepee daily for protein, but they didn't tell me where or what to buy for this. the pharmacist was no help either? i have no idea, does anyone else know? |
Huh? I've never heard of this. I would call your OB. Seems strange to tell you to do something like at home this without any guidance. |
you need urine dip strips. i would call your practice ask speak with a nurse. |
previous poster again:
http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=37728&catid=11645 But I have never heard of a patient having to buy these themselves online. I would think your practice would order them for you and instruct you on how to use them. |
yea you would think so. it's a "high risk" pregnancy b/c of twins, and he said i have to take my BP 2x a day and test for protein daily....
i'll call the nurse i guess. |
Wow, that is unbelievable that they would send you off on your own. Personally, I might consider switching practices. |
You need ketone strips which any pharmacy has over the counter. I had GD while pregnant and had to test my urine daily. You pee on the stick and match the color strip to the color bar on the container. It's very easy and I got my strips at CVS. |
No, you had GD and needed ketone strips. Original poster is at risk for pre-eclampsia and needs to check for protein. Different complication. |
I'm the PP who had GD and I'm married to a doctor and my mother is a nurse. I've re-checked with my literature and these professionals and we all still believe that the protein strip test would be the same ...protein in the urine is the same no matter what causes it and the test strips are the same. But clearly, her OB office should advise her directly. Just trying to be helpful. |
op here, i called the other day and the nurse said to get uri sticks...
the sheet that the doctor gave me that day does explain to me when to call if the results are certain numbers... thanks for the help. |
