What is an activity that your daughters like that is low stress for you? We tried ballet and honestly I found the dynamics at our dance company tiresome. |
I am a big believer in trying different things and seeing what DD likes.
We have done swim ( my choice and non negotiable) and dance and gymnastics, also baseball and soccer during the spring/fall season. Currently she is 6 and we are doing jiu jitsu and will be doing soccer in April for 8 weeks. |
Martial arts and piano lessons are/were low key. Swim lessons were, as well. Swim team, on the other hand, is stressful in my household. |
Art class |
I loved ballet - it was relaxing sitting outside the room listening to the classical pianist inside. Sadly, it wasn’t DD’s thing. Gym was low-stress but I hated the noisy atmosphere. The best activity was and is DD’s violin lesson. It’s NOT low-stress, the teacher expects a lot and I take notes during the lesson to facilitate practice at home. It’s intense, but it’s by far the most rewarding activity!!! |
Don't go with a dance company. Try the rec ctr instead. Cheaper, low stress, and ends after 8 weeks so no long term commitment. How old is Dd? What are her interests? We've tried a kids' cooking class (Wegmans), painting/art, to name a few. I look for drop-in type classes. Library, rec ctr, and sometimes preschool will have an extra enrichment activity. |
We are ballet. How about another kind of dance? Hiphop? |
How old Op?
My kids have always liked playing soccer and swim lessons. One really likes gymnastics and the other dance. And the older one just started playing basketball and tennis. |
Basically everything, because we're easy-going low stress people. It's all in your attitude. |
If she likes dance, try a different dance school. |
We did rec center ballet and goldfish swimming - super low key, you sit outside with a book/kindle/phone and read. Occasionally look up and wave. |
My three year exclusively takes enrichment classes through preschool - there are several options including dance, gymnastics, soccer, a couple languages, etc. |
Aikido. |
+1 If you don't like the center, try a different one. Both my kids tried different gyms/clubs before finding a good fit for our essy-going family. |
