Wayfair furniture assembly - do you tip?

Planning on ordering new bedroom furniture. I know there's an extra fee for assembly and delivery to the room of choice, which seems reasonable. But do you tip the delivery/assembly people?
Anonymous
Yes, I do. I don't think they get paid a lot as you are just paying the company.

Yes

Nope. They are getting paid to do furniture assembly.

Anyone who brings something to my door who does not own the company gets a tip, from the pizza guy, grocery or furniture delivery folks. I tip the Amazon delivery people because they are working for sub-minimum wage. I never tip via an app, instacart etc, because too many times those tips offset their hourly minimum. If I don't have the cash or can't afford a tip, I don't really need the item.

The exceptions - USPS, UPS or Fedex delivery people.

If they are efficient and friendly, and they do a good job, I give them a $20 handshake on their way out and tell them lunch is on me today.

Yes, you cheap bastard.

Yes, you do - I ordered a couch but did not order assembly because it looked very easy. They were only supposed to deliver it inside the door, however the box it came in would not fit through the doorway. These great deliverymen took the couch out of the box, brought it to the location I wanted it, inside the house, and put it all together. There were three of them and I gave them each $10.00. They had it all done in 15 minutes and took away that HUGE box too. I was very greatful and it cost me less than if I would have paid upfront for assembly. I'm afraid they don't get tips or een assembly fees if you pay for that to the company upfront so I try to give everyone a cash tip.

Yes. $20.

Yes. They only get a percentage of the Wayfair fee, which is low to begin with.

Well by that logic this cheap bastard doesn’t tip anyone

Aren’t they gig workers?

At this point in life, I’ve decided not to buy furniture that needs assembly but yes you are supposed to tip them.

Naw stop it all you are doing is lining the pockets of the companies not willing to pay a wage, together we can end tipping

I wouldn't want to put this TV stand together - too many pieces and hardware! I will definitely tip the assembly man; however, I paid over $100 to Wayfair for the assembly! That seems like a lot so I hope the assembly man gets a good chunk of that since he's the one doing the work, not Wayfair!
