I have not been on a cruise since I was a small child but we are considering a Disney cruise for the kids. I think they would love it. We have traveled extensively and lived abroad in both Asia and Europe for many years so it would be a unique experience for us but it’s hard to ignore the negativity about it. |
The Disney cruises are great as far as domestic cruise lines go. I hate cruises for many reasons (seasickness, crowds in tight spaces, norovirus) but know many people who have gone on and loved Disney cruises. I don’t think tackiness is something you need to think about with Disney. |
Yes but a lot of things kid love are tacky and you just do them once to do them. There’s no glory in not taking your kids on a cruise they would like because it isn’t an elite vacation. |
I mean, the adults would hate it enough I wouldn't care if kids would like it, as there are so many middle ground places that would be better choices where everyone could have a good time, so solid no for me. I'm a cruise/Disney/ all-inclusive hater though, I am sure many would disagree and their thoughts are equally valid. |
Well yeah, of course. I'd never go on one, let alone take my kids on one. But I don't understand the point of the question. Obviously you're that type of person or you wouldn't want to do it. So just do it.
Or is your question really, "How do I take my kids on a cruise and somehow look cultured afterwards?" If so, the answer is, "You can't, so don't try." |
NP. You take yourself very seriously. |
Not really. I just find the question amusing. A cruise is pretty much the definition of tacky. But I do things that others would probably consider tacky too. Who cares? |
Surely your reflection in the mirror laughs at you about how ridiculous you are. |
Good gosh the obnoxiousness of some of the replies here.
OP, learn to not care what snooty stuck-up people think. You will be much happier. If a cruise sounds fun then do it! |
No, it's not but people on here will tell you it is. |
Kids love cruises. Take them. Not every vacation has to be cultured. I think it is good to mix it up. I took my kids to Paris for New Years, Machu Pichu last Spring Break, and my teenager is begging to go on a Royal Caribbean cruise this summer. DC has been watching YouTube videos about the ships. |
Please just do the type of vacation you and your family like. Don’t worry if it’s tacky or nobody else would do it. It’s your family, your time, your memories, and your family traditions to build. Life is too short to worry about this stuff. |
Yes, of course. But that shouldn’t stop you. Everyone has a little vulgarity in them... |
Cruises are just horrible for the environment. I know all vacations are to some extent, but cruises are probably the worst.
For that reason alone, I’d never go on one. |
Yes, but who cares. |
