75,000 Pro-Gun Demonstrators in Richmond For "Lobby Day"?

Anonymous
I heard yesterday that the Virginia State Police are expecting 75,000 or more demonstrators at the state capitol on 1/20. They also said that the VSP is bringing in about 600 state troopers to "maintain order" at the demonstration. I would assume that there will also be several hundred officers from the Richmond city police, as well as the State Capitol Police, local Sheriff's offices, etc.
It will be interesting to see how all this plays out.

perfect - militia types all descending on Richmond. This should be as much fun as Charlottesville.

I'm not a "militia type" (whatever the hell that is). But I'm going. Only to show my support for the law-abiding gun owners of the commonwealth.

Are they going to bring their guns?

Probably, Pp. This is common when gun sense activists gain traction- I have spoken with many legislators and staff who find it physically intimidating to speak with angry, armed white men, but I imagine that’s part of the point.

It's interesting that firearm deaths dropped 20% nationwide when the NRA has its conventions. They aren't allowed to use guns during the conventions, and the number of gun deaths just fall in the rest of the country because so many gun users are clustered together and not using their weapons.

Many gun owners support common sense gun laws. What are you concerned about specifically?

Good. The news coverage of the rally will be good motivation to push for MORE gun control.

When is the protest planned? I want to take a trip to VA and would love to go when all the ammosexuals are in Richmond.

Whoops, missed that it is on Jan 20th, the day after Robert E. Lee's birthday.

I don't know. I'm not taking a gun. I have no need for one there and think it's counter-productive.

What the heck is a "common sense gun law"? There are people on this forum whose idea of a "common sense gun law" is to melt them all down and make them into manhole covers. There are posters here who say that they want to confiscate all guns and put all gun owners in jail, and they think that's a "common sense gun law".

What I'm specifically concerned with are people who throw around words that they know nothing about, and want to put law-abiding citizens in jail because those citizens happen to enjoy the shooting sports. Hell, we've even got people on this forum who want to have KNIFE owners arrested.

I'm a gun owner, and I support common sense gun laws. But we've already got tons of common sense gun laws, and none of the proposals put forth by Governor Northam and his crew of idiots have anything to do with common sense.

Correct. That is how most of the people advocating "reasonable, common sense gun safety laws" will end up defining them if you ask them to elaborate on what that phrase actually means to them, beyond the platitudes and simplistic messaging.

A complete, total ban on guns. Some right now, and the rest later. That's "reasonable and common sense" to them.
