I'm taking a few neighborhood kids for a few different days during the holiday break so parents can work. Too many for driving anywhere but can you recommend fun walk-able from redline activities for PK4-2nd kids? |
Should have noted, an afternoon at the zoo already planned. |
National Geographic museum has an exhibit about Jane Goodall. Tix aren't free, though. |
Postal Museum next to Union Station. Perfect for that age range and a small space to it'll be hard to lose anyone. |
This. Great idea. |
Mansion on O street is at DuPont circle:

Too many for Wilson pool? In the right area, but you might not want to take a bunch of kids if it's just you.
Libraries at Tenleytown or Cleveland Park Hike embassy row and do a scavenger hunt for flags (we take the train to Dupont, jump on a bus along Mass for as far as we want to walk, then walk back and finish up with hot chocolate at Pain Quotidienne. Hazen Trail -- a couple of blocks from Cleveland Park metro, about a half mile down through a valley to Rock Creek. The path is fun -- it crosses the stream a few times with stepping stones. About a mile round trip down to Rock Creek and back from Connecticut Ave. National Building Museum |
Thanks. This is OP and we actually live near the Brookland station so a lot of new idea for me! |
The National Portrait Gallery is right by Gallery Place. The National Building Museum is across from Judiciary Square but it's closed for renovations currently. |
Is the building museum closed though? |
Dupont neighborhood exploring. Phillips collection, kramerbooks, look at the fountain, go in some hotels to look at Christmas decorations. |
Not free and not good for group of small children! |
I would see if library of Congress is doing children’s events during those days - easy walk from union station |
