Having your new car “look new” longer vs having all the kinks worked out/being able to negotiate the price more?
Thoughts? I will likely keep the car 6-8 years. |
| You'll get a very good discount if you buy in the last year of a model run. At least that's what happened with our recently purchased Subaru. |
OP here. That’s what I’m thinking, plus hopefully the bugs are worked out. I’m worried my car will look dated almost immediately, but do I really care if it’s otherwise the best option? I’ll get more features in my price point this way. |
| You do not keep them long enough to get dated. I like mid run. 2 years out. |
| One risk is parts. I have a car that is no longer produced and 1 time needed to wait a month for parts to come in. |

I bought a new model back in 2004. There were tons of minor issues with it, including a problem that ultimately could not be fixed. It wasn't horrible, but there were many minor annoyances along the way.
I would avoid a brand new model. |
This was my experience as well. It wasn't a brand new model but the first year of a major redesign. I'd think twice before doing it again. |
