Would you watch soaps if they were edited to 22 minute daily episodes and/or 1.5 hour weekly "movies

Soaps are endlessly entertaining and honestly feature some of the best working actors in the business (not celebrities, but people who work a 9 to 5 to bring these outrageous characters to life.)

The daily 1-hour episodes are always in danger of being cancelled...but I am like...can they do the one hour, and then edit THAT down to a quick synopsis of a half-hour episode...and then have a longer 1.5 hour long episode released on Friday we can curl up and watch on the weekend or while we're doing chores?

No. They are so trashy.

I mean I watch shows like Chicago med which feels like an hour long weekly soap. So maybe. But then it wouldn't be a soap. It would just be a soapy esque show like desperate housewives.

Reality shows are the soaps of our time.

I used to watch GH a lot. I do find that much of it is very repetitive and I used to basically just watch the Friday episode because they would recap everything that happened that week and end with a cliffhanger.

Days of Our Lives is my guilty pleasure, but I can’t stand the hugely long blocks of commercials (especially the annoying ones for prescription drugs) during the show. Even if you watch it On Demand, the system will not let you fast forward them. If you were to cut them out, then the show itself would only be about 35 minutes.

Of course not. FOH

I grew up watching them and kicked the habit maybe 20 years ago. I’d happily rewatch my shows from 70s-90s, but I don’t want to watch new episodes.
