Can colleges see you added them on Naviance?

Anonymous
Can colleges tell that a student added them to “colleges I’m thinking about” on naviance? Also, once you add a college, why does it say “added by student”? Who else would be adding a school to the colleges I’m interested in list?
Anonymous
Colleges can also be added by parent or counselor.

No. And colleges don't care.

They can see if you add them on common app. And do care about that.

I believe there is an administrator setting where you will be prompted to "connect with" a college, and you can say yes or no.

It does not happen for every college because only certain ones are interested in that. If you don't see that prompt ever then your HS probably has it turned off, or you just coincidentally added only those not interested. If you do see it sometimes, then those are the colleges that have chosen to request it.

I do not know what info goes to them, unfortunately. I am totally guessing, but it is probably basic contact info and some kind of "range" like they get from the standardized test companies.

Connect with Colleges
It’s now easier than ever for students to connect with colleges through Naviance college profile pages. High school students can communicate directly with college admissions officers and request additional information about their institution. In addition to communication with colleges, high schools can activate ActiveMatch Events in Naviance to highlight university on-campus and regional events for students, and students can organize and register for events directly through Naviance.

Still don't see that anywhere. But the prompts we saw were voluntary - the student can opt in but does not have to. By contrast, fill out the common app with college names and you get bombarded almost immediately.

Oh Jesus on a pogo stick this place is ridiculous:

If you have used Naviance, you see the prompt. The answer to the question is very simple: Yes, if you agree and if your HS and the college in question have that feature enabled.

Clear enough?
