Better to stay home with toddler if DH took older child to ER

DH just took our son to ER and I’m worried sick. I want to go but we have a 2yo toddler. I know it will be a disaster to take her.

Better for me to stay home, right?

What did he go to the ER for? Can you call a friend to watch your daughter?

A 2 year old does not belong in an ER. Call a neighbor or friend to come over or drop off toddler.

Yes. I had to take my 2yo with me when I took my dad in once. My bil met me there to help, but it was still awful. And he picked up a horrible bug that laid him and the rest of us low for days. Just stay home.

If it was something serious, I would call a neighbor or friend to watch your 2 year old.

If it was less serious, see if you can switch out with DH.

This is the reality of having more kids. I have 3 and lots of "semi emergency situations" mean only one parent goes. Times where its not serious enough to call and send my other kids to a neighbor last minute but also serious enough Im worried and feel bad I can't be there. I use to "hog" these situations and be the "taker" until a few situations would have left a nursing child at home which isn't good so Dad took the sick kid to urge care or whatever. It was good for us in the sense that both parents became the "main" parent.

Your 2 year old is almost guaranteed to get sick if he goes and runs around. I don’t let my kids leave the stroller if possible.

I hope your older child is okay. On the off-chance that he is in later into the evening, do you have a trusted person who could come by once your younger child is asleep, so you could go in?

I think it depends what it is for. I took my youngest to the ER for a broken bone. Totally fine. But if it was for something serious, I would want both parents to be there. If this is the case, can you call someone to watch your other child? I hope your older child is ok.

Op here. My child got admitted to the hospital. I got a sitter for tomorrow so I will go to the hospital and DH can go to work.
