I’ve never used Uber but I’m going to start

Go with Lyft, more ethical

All corporations are sketchy in ways, so use whatever service you want if you're going to use one.

It's not that hard -- download the app, input your payment info, and then request a ride. Make sure to check that the license plate number on the car that arrives matches the one shown in the app. You'll be fine.

I always check the license plate before I get in. And I always use Uber Pool (safety in numbers).

Lastly, you get an Uber score. I did not know this in the beginning and was not giving ratings to the drivers. Now I can't get my rating above 4.73.

Good news: No more mustaches.

The “Lyft is more ethical” thing is mostly a myth. The companies pay their contractors similarly and have had similar issues with failure to track/prevent sexual harassment and assault of passengers. The only thing that Uber has done that Lyft hasn’t done is track customers through the app when customers are not in the car. Uber had to resolve this in order to stay in the App Store.

We've used both Uber and Lyft and, in fact, some drivers work for both Uber and Lyft at the same time.

They are great services and I really have no complaint about either one.

Is it easier/quicker to get an Uber ride vs Lyft? Or the same

Where I live uber is often a little quicker and lyft is a little cheaper. You can check both before you commit.

uber sometimes is cheaper but overall i pick lyft for price. uber is a little better service.

So many drivers work for both so I still think they're pretty comparable and, thus, interchangeable services. I've noticed that Lyft is consistently cheaper than Uber though. Recently, Uber emailed me about a promo and added the promo to my app, but when I used the promo they later said I didn't qualify for it because I wasn't directly offered it (although they emailed me about the offer directly AND put it in my app). I disputed the charge and went through 4 rounds of customer service giving me nonsensical answers about why the promo wasn't applied. In the past you'd get a quick answer and resolution. This was a literal bait and switch and still makes no sense so due to that and the consistently higher DC pricing, I'm sticking with Lyft.
