If you knew you had to have a C-Section, which OB would you recommend? I've sorted through a lot of posts and am wondering if anyone has helpful insights. Oh, and I've confirmed that I have to have a C-Section because of risk of uterine rupture. Thank you |
Dr Bannon - she's in McLean and practices out of VA Hospital in Arlington. She was great - my recovery was very easy - we in a wedding (including a mass ceremony) less than 10 days after the procedure! |
the tricky part is that even if you pick an OB and have it scheduled...the best laid plans...this just happened to me, I went into labor before my scheduled c and ended up with a doc covering for the practice
it went fine though -- really, the c-section is pretty straightforward so any doctor with a good reputation should do a good job for you and I suspect that recovery and so forth has more to do with just how your body handles these things than how your surgeon did the surgery just an additional note, I just had my second c and the recovery was really a breeze -- seriously, I wanted to go home the day afterwards |
Dr Wulf at the GU practice did my emergency c-section and (in my opinion) did a wonderful job. Good recovery, and my scar looks very good. She is not "warm and fuzzy" but very competent technically.
Would you mind sharing why you are at an increased risk of a uterine rupture? Is it because of a prior c/s or for a different reason? I am curious as I am thinking about the VBAC option for my next pregnancy but uterine rupture is something that really scares me. Good luck. |
Sure - I had a myomectomy with a vertical incision. I am really more afraid of uterine ruption than the c-section. |
Dr. Ron Jacobs in Silver Spring. Greatest obgyn on the planet. |
Dr. Andrew Engel at Foxhall OBGYN in NW DC. He's great. |
So funny on Dr. Bannon-I just came back from an appointment with her for my second pregnancy and was just thinking about how great she is!! I too had a great experience with her and my emergency csection was a piece of cake. I am now going for my second csection due to the high probability I would need one again anyway. Good luck! |
