Is this a parent? WTF. Crazy stuff, you can't make this stuff up folks.

Fairfax County Police arrested a convicted sex offender from Vienna after he tried to attend to enter an elementary school in the Falls Church area.

The incident occurred yesterday (Thursday) around 3 p.m. at Shrevewood Elementary School (7525 Shreve Road).

“While trying to attend a school event with an acquaintance, a man attempted to check into the school using the automated visitor management system, the man’s name was flagged as being on the sex offender registry,” the police report said. “School staff denied him entry into the school and called police.”

Cornejo was arrested and charged with “entering school property after a violent sex offense,” according to police. He is being held at the Adult Detention Center without bond.

According to Virginia’s sex offender registry, a man named Alonso Bruno Cornejo, who lives in Vienna, was convicted in 2011 for sex trafficking of a juvenile.

An FBI press release from 2011 said that Alonso Bruno Cornejo Ormeno was sentenced to 292 months — roughly 24 years — in prison for “sex trafficking runaway females as part of his juvenile prostitution business that serviced clients throughout northern Virginia, as well as Washington, D.C., and Maryland.”

Why is out from a 24 year sentence? WTH?! I’m so tired of the soft on crime folks.

Why don’t all public schools have a system like this?

I have a very common last name. My husband's name got flagged with multiple "name matches" the first time he signed in at my school in FCPS. Once they double checked his ID to verify he was not any of the offenders (they do this even though he had a different DOB) he was cleared.

Most do. I know our school does and we've had similar "catches." When a person such as the man above signs in and there is a match, a number of people in our school are immediately alerted and have a procedure to follow to keep the person from entering the building further.

The system worked as it should.

This guy is actually a violent sex offender and gang member. Your story is invalid.

I guess we will keep hearing this stories as Fairfax County continues the slow March towards sanctuary status. Fantastic.

How scary it must have been for the school workers to encounter someone like this.

MCPS also has this system. I'm glad it worked!

Freedom Hill and Shrevewood are both Marshall HS feeders.

It was not a parent, it was a guest of a parent. That day was the Kindergarten writer's celebration. Tons of parents were around, so it could have been a potentially really bad situatio, everyone would have thought he was dad.

Did the parent know of his sex offender status and his time in prison???

So are u saying he was a friend of a student’s mom? Is this why they would have thought the dad? Was he going to take the kid and traffic him/her? I’m very confused. How does someone know he’s in bounds for Freedom ES?
