used Prius vs used Camry -- which is likely to be less expensive to maintain going forward?

Given a used Prius and a used Camry, each 8 years old, and each with 100K miles, and each well-maintained by their respective owners, which of the two cars is likely to be less expensive to maintain going forward?

Camry. Battery packs have a limited life, and when they need to be replaced, they are super-expensive.

FWIW, I have a prius with 180k miles on it and just had battery issues for the first time. Batteries are not as super-expensive as I thought, especially if you avoid the dealer. I found someone who was able to fix the battery for less than $1000. A new battery would have been less than $2000.

I've spent like $250 a year or less on my Prius until the last couple months, but again, it's a 2004 with 180k miles.

I think it's just going to depend on the individual car and how well it's been maintained.

I’m not sure what kind of battery issues PP had but a prius is not like a pure ev where long term battery degradation cuts your range. At most you might notice a tick up in your gas consumption.

I have a 6 year old plug in Prius with under 100k miles and not seeing any battery problems, altho capacity might have dropped a bit.

Like some others, the thread title made me think this was someone trying to grow clover. LOL

Anyway, clover tends to like acidic soils (pH 6.4) so you might want to use a healthy dose of lime to push the pH up closer to 7, which most grasses like.

Also, clover flourishes in soil that is lacking in nitrogen, so adding a nitrogen-rich fertilizer would make your yard less inviting to clover.

Both great cars, both do really well above 100K, but Prius will save you money on gas.
So I'd go with Prius.

Is the Camry also a hybrid? The issue we just ran into with our Prius is that not everyone is comfortable working on certain battery/electrical issues which will inevitably happen - I still stand behind Prius as the best possible small car choice, but would hesitate a little more on used with 100k miles.
