| Do you find them adding a cost to the car ownership? |

Run flats are pure crap.
They ride hard and their tread life is very short. I’d avoid them at all costs. |

They come standard on my wife's Mercedes. The good: get a nail in the tire, and you can keep driving, no changing flats.
The bad: get a nail in the tire, and you have to buy a brand new tire. We have had to buy two brand new tires over three years because of nails. The old tires had very little wear on them. |
| They don’t last very long, end up replacing at 35-40k. |
| Hate them. More expensive and need replacement more often because they can’t be fixed. Will only buy a car with regular tires from now on. |
| Love them for drinking in the city. I think you're not supposed to drive over 50 on them off you're under inflated so my city commute is perfect with my car |
| If your car comes with them as standard, can you replace them with regular or are they a part of a car design? |

I know the Honda Odyssey Touring Edition only came with run-flat Michelin PAX tires for a number of years. They were a unique size that could not be replaced with regular tires, had a short tread life, were noisy and were 2x times the price of regular tires.
Reason enough for me to get the ES-L version. I find flats to be uncommon and not a big deal when they happen. (twice in 20 years of driving) Check into the expected tread life and replacement cost for your model. |
