Redfin Tour Insights

Is it normal for Redfin agents to criticize entire buildings in their tour insights? Our building listserv has gone crazy this weekend after an agent posted criticism of the building's fees and decor, ignoring the large sign in the lobby explaining we're in the process of renovations.

Are you the building that an agent said needed 'some TLC'? I meant that literally.

I don't know how common it is but as buyer, yes I would want to know if the building hadn't been kept up as well as it should.

redfin tour insights are most helpful when they have the cons. I can see that it is a large lot with hardwood floors from the pictures, tell me about the dumpster fire next door or whatever.

I look forward to their insights.

I think its helpful. The fees are important.

reach out directly to the agent and complain- they will take it down.
If by any chance there is a current owner who is listed with redfin- have them complain to their listing agent- it will come down super fast.

20:33, I’m watching from the sidelines - I’m neither buying nor selling right now - but one of the resident real estate agents is having a grand time using this as an example of why people shouldn’t use Redfin. It seems like a lot of posturing to try and get more business, but is unusual. I actually used Redfin for my purchase and didn’t remember any of the insights that weren’t at least phrased in a positive way. In fact, I recall one split-level condo insight tried to really push the benefits of a wall-less loft bedroom in a triangular shaped Kalorama unit. In doing so, though, it helped clarify that the photos weren’t actually accurately representing the listing.

My favorite agent comment I’ve seen lately: “includes some unique design features, such as a kitchen without a refrigerator.”

Yes, the house is a hot mess.

Redfin insights are great. They only have a limited space, so they keep it short & sweet. We toured a few properties with our Redfin agent and door-openers; they always left an Insight if it was the first time Redfin was checking out the property.

I like to no BS angle. We had a very positive experience as 1st time buyers with Redfin.

Redfin always make buyers bid high in bidding wars. We don’t take the contracts but use them to escalate buyers with good agents.

We - meaning you are an agent? You are presenting these offers to the sellers, right? That's really shady if you are steering your clients to lower bids.

Funny, I just saw a Redfin tour insight for a home in my neighborhood where the agent misspelled "garish" in his comment--I think the sellers were older, and I found his comment to be somewhat mean-spirited. Nonetheless, it went under contract soon after that.

It's actually the opposite. A Redfin agent isn't going to post a negative comment on their brokerage's listing.

As a buyer I love an honest insight (no need to be mean, of course).

As a seller, I am not opposed to an insight that is balanced and accurate (not a "guess" or an exaggeration that would turn away unsophisticated buyers).

I think it’s a goo idea, but they should choose their words carefully.
