Do you think Upper class women use nail polish?

Anonymous
This is an offshoot of another DC thread but fits here. So I grew up MC but now I’m UMC. My mom always said my hair and nails should be done. But I see a lot of commentary about nails not being done. Do you think UMC women always have their nails done? What about upper class?

Depends on whether you need your nails to cling to your UMC status.

I think that people who are truly classy don’t worry about things like this.

Another trashy post.

No. I think they should be neat, clean, and trimmed. I’ve always thought “done nails” looks slightly 90s tacky. And let’s face it, the polish only looks good for a day or two and chipped nails are awful looking. Or even worse fake nails or gel nails. Just no. Plus it is bad for your health.

Op here. Neat and trimmed given. But at home? Or nail salon?

I agree the chips look bad. I use gels because it’s the only thing that doesn’t chip but I always do neutral and very short.

Really though? If you are headed to a wedding or nice event-you don’t think about this? How is this any different than any other beauty item??

Eh I’m curious now. The question was posed neutrally and without judgment. I don’t think OP is trashy. Just wondering about her MC roots and whether this
Grooming trait is shared among other classes.

My family is probably UMC ($250k income — though maybe that’s MC for DCUM) does not get our nails done. We aren’t paragons of style and class though.

What does it have to do with upper class? And if you are really thinking about it, just google Kate Middleton and take a look at their hands.

At home. It is super easy to trim nails, file a bit and snip rough cuticles. Take 5 min tops. Maybe up to 10 if you want to soak first but I usually do mine after I shower.

Kate Middleton/Duchess is not average upper class. She does use polish though. Short and very subtle.

To me it’s important because it deals with how well put together you look.

Why do we want to support a snob-want-to-be? Upper class my ass.
