Stroller detailing

Anonymous
We're expecting #2 and I'd like to have the stroller deep cleaned. I've tried getting most of the stains out myself, but sunscreen and some other blemishes are tough to deal with.

Does anyone have recommendations for stroller detailing services they've used and been happy with?

The only one I've seen advertised is https://dc.thetotsquad.com/services/stroller-cleaning-repair

Thanks!

I haven't used Tot Squad personally, but several of my mom friends have (for strollers and/or car seats) and I know they've all been really pleased with it. I personally cannot get over the idea of spending that $$ for something that I could do myself, but. . .

I didn't even know this was a thing! I'm not sure why, but I find it funny.
I'm not sure sunscreen stains will ever come out though..aren't the kind of permanent like bleach?

We had a good experience with Tot Squad for 2 very beat up strollers and a carseat, though it ended up being a bit more expensive than initially quoted (and taking a lot longer).

I just gave my stroller a good power washing and called it a day.

I spray it with a vinegar/hot water solution. Then I scrub the grossest spots. Then I rinse with the hose and leave in a sunny spot outside.

Ok, I did that once in 4 years. Just spray is down and let it dry. The weather is perfect for this since it's been nice and sunny.

I was sure this was an April Fool's post.

I did too, at first. Then some deep buried memories of cleaning vomit out of carseats came back up, and I thought there have been stupider ways we've spent money...

Not all of us have yards, hoses, etc.

OP here. Thanks to all the PPs. If I had a steam cleaner, I'd try that, but I don't. I guess I could take it to a dry cleaners and see if it's any cheaper. Tot squad wants $99.

I agree it's pricey which is why I've tried to do it myself... I got the canopy in decent shape but the seat needs more work and frankly I've already spent 4+ hours on scrubbing and money on fabric stain removers and couldn't quite get it all out. The sunscreen stains are basically from metal fragments, so i think they need special treatment but I know they can be removed as I've had a ski jacket dry cleaned and they came out.

I love the subject heading. My first thought was that you were gonna get spinners and racing stripes on that old Maclaren, maybe drop the block and add a Pesco pump....

Just wash it. If its removable, put spray and wash or soak it and put it in the washer. Otherwise scrub it. I don't get how it can get that dirty.

then take it to the place where you'd wash a car and use those hoses. cheaper than using the service and probably twice as effective.

It's not removable, and I have scrubbed. We only own the one stroller so it got plenty of use. We also spend a lot of time outdoors and mostly on foot. Considering how much of a beating the stroller has taken, it actually looks terrific, but I want to treat myself and new baby to a deep clean.

If I was looking for recommendations on $300 haircuts, I'd understand the harping, but gimme a break...

Anyway, gotta get back to work and earn the $99 for Tot Squat! Thanks all.

I think you're onto a good business idea.
