My 4 year old DD today told me she pretended to marry a boy in her class during dress up center time. She said that they air kissed. Everything seemed innocent enough. Should I worry? |
My 4 year old told me she was going to marry a specific boy in her class. I asked why, since last week she said they weren't friends. She said that he wanted her to and asked if she could buy new shoes for the wedding. 4 year olds are gonna 4 year old. This is not something to stress about. |
![]() Remind me of a chat with another mother from DS' preschool. I told her that my DS said he would only marry her Larla. She said "Oops, I ams sorry. Larla said that she had already engaged with Larlo (another boy in their class). |
Sounds about right. |
Worry about what, exactly? |
My PKer has 14 girls and 4 boys in her class. She rotates weekly about who she plans to marry. |
I'd have said Mazel tov and asked where they planned to honeymoon.
They're playing pretend. Chill out. |
At four, all the preschool kids were going to marry one another -- boys and girls, boys and boys, girls and girls. It just means they like each other and wanted to pretend to have a party. They don't know what marrying means and what a wedding is. Chill out. |
Sounds like something my DD 4 would do. |
My DS was engaged at 4. He is still engaged to the same girl. The adults enjoy planning the rehersal dinner slide show while drinking beers together. It’s fine. |
This is called pretend play. Read up on it. |
I work with preschoolers, every day there is a wedding. They are also pirates, mermaids, cats, dogs, dinosaurs, etc. Weddings are part of playing house and pretending to be families. Sometimes they have babies too! |
