Would you go to a party smack in the middle of nap time?

Anonymous
We are new to area and got invited to a 2pm birthday party. My child usually naps 1-3.

Would you go to this party?

Can I rsvp maybe on the evite?

I like this mom and child a lot. We have never gone anywhere during nap time with our daughter. We have driven or flown during nap time only.

I would. My child wouldn't.

The party is at My Gym.

With my first: no. I wouldn’t go, or I would have done something crazy like trying to shift his nap schedule.
With my fourth: yes. And he would fall asleep in the car on the way home or just skip the nap that day and go to bed early, and it would be fine.

Never

Depends on age of kid. At 18 mos-2 probably not. Age 2.5-4 then yes I would skip nap.

It really depends on the kid. One of my children was an absolute banshee without a nap and couldn’t have held it together at a party. My other is nap-flexible and would likely be fine.. What I might try to do is nap my kid in the car and bring them 15 min or so late to the party (but wake them early from nap).

I would. I would try to move nap earlier and get a shorter one in and then attempt to go to the party and monitor behavior closely. Very occasionally we will completely skip nap for a special occasion and then do early bedtime. Kids are 2.5.

I wouldn't, but skipping a nap meant hell to pay later with both my kids.

I would have when my son was 3, mainly because nap time pretty much disappeared at 2 1/2. He had to go for 2 hours of quiet time during the nap time at Day Care/Pre School. He would spend most of that time complaining about not needing a nap and would fall asleep with 10 minutes to left about half the time. So skipping nap was really not an issue. We tried to maintain the 2 hour period just to make life easier on his care givers during the week and because his mother likes to nap.

Yes, this is what I would do too.

Totally depends on the kid - my first child nope - my second would so ok with moving nap time around.

Sure. Bring rigid isn’t going to get any of you anywhere. Won’t nap time be over soon anyway?

If your child gets too fussy just head home. Hopefully DC can fall sleep in her car seat on the way home?

Op here. My child has never missed a nap in her life. She has been consistently napping in afternoon since she was 18m. She just turned 2. She will be 26 months old at time of birthday party.
