We have only traveled a handful of times by air with my DD because when we have done it, the car seat is such a pain. Are there any travel solutions like the immigo or safety vest that are safe? My DD is small- just over 30 pounds and still rear faces, although I’d be comfortable with forward facing for occasional travel. |
The cosco harness seat is lighweight and gets good reviews for travel on here. I would also consider a hbb, most of those start at 30lbs. As long as she will sit still they would be fine. |
Is it that much of a hassle to check in 1 carseat? You can also rent a carseat from the car rental of you're getting a rental, but the seats are usually, not as good as what you'd currently have. |
Ride Safer Vest. |
Cosco finale. It is super lightweight and easy to carry. My big 4 year old was happy to be in hers and loved that it had a cup holder (ha!). |
We have a Ride Safer Vest and it’s been great. The crash test data on it is very, very good and it is easy to bring anywhere. |
I have a graco contender for my 32 pound 4 yo. I've used it flying probably a dozen times now and it's super easy to install on the plane and in cars. it's also quite light weight and rear faces if you desire. |
We have a 35 lb 3.5 year old, and just bought a new Evenflo Maestro (FF harness, converts to booster) and flew with it this past week. Our kid is RF at home but we are ok with temporary FF for travel at this point. Pretty light weight and very easy to install on plane and in car. Would definitely recommend. |
+1. We've used a Maestro for the past three years. It's not my favorite seat ever, but it is so crazy light that the rest doesn't really matter. If we take a stroller along, it sits in the seat of the stroller, but my kids have also carried it through airports (upside down on their heads--they think it's fun, so who am I to suggest otherwise!) I would be comfortable with an ImmiGo or RideSafer Travel vest on trips where kids won't be sleeping in the car, but ours usually involve long drives on the other end so we need the head support of the more traditional seat. |
Great seat-I have 3! (my car, dh's and grandmas) I recommend. |
