Will places like goodwill want used underwear or socks? I hate to just throw them away. |
Throw it away. (If you donate it, Goodwill will throw it away too.) |
Ive seen underwear for sale at Unique so i know they take it and sell it. |
You could see whether H&M will recycle it. |
Donate it to goodwill. They will recycle the fabric so it stays out of landfills (where it takes a long time to biodegrade). |
Do they recycle clothing in general? I have knee holes injean's holes in sweaters, t shirts that are discolored on the color, etc. |
Goodwill recycles most of the clothing they get. |
Used underwear is not hygienic. If you wouldn’t give it to a friend, don’t give it to Goodwill or a charity. If you find a textile recycler, they might accept socks and underwear as rags. Otherwise, just throw away. Yuck. |
Ask friends. We were thrilled to have extras while potty training, and it made new ones an even bigger reward. |
I repurpose them as rags. |
What is the source for this? On the Goodwill website it mentions this: "After you drop off your shirts, shoes, blankets, electronics and other items, we sell them in one of our more than 3,300 Goodwill stores or on our online auction site, shopgoodwill.com." |

You can drop off your textiles from any brand, in any condition, at any H&M store globally and they’ll recycle it for you. I recommend calling ahead though to your local H&M before to double check and make sure store employees know you’re coming by. |
I would never purchase used underwear or socks. But I do hand them down and receive them handed down from my sisters. Honestly, that's my line though, even good friends I just wouldn't do it. Too weird. They aren't expensive. Keep them in your immediate family and then trash. |
Disagree, I would 100% give outgrown HA unders to a friend. I have donated kid undies and adult bras to Goodwill, and when I used to shop thrift I saw bras and shapers there (don't recall underpants or not). My own old undies, I put in one of those fabric recyling bins, yes. |
I’ve bought bags of used kids’ socks at consignment/rummage sales. |
