Cooks, do you know of an online search tool that would spit out a list of recipes on the basis of search terms I put in (that are ingredients)?
I know I can search the old-time way, thumbing through a cookbook under the "poultry" chapter, but I figured there has to be a better, faster app somewhere. fwiw, I have in mind a dish that includes dark meat chicken, orange pieces, raisins and probably Moroccan spices. |
I don't know of anything like that but if I had those items I would do some type of cous cous dish maybe even Israeli cous cous search for recipes for that and just substitute your ingredients or add them to the recipe |
I like allrecipes.com & use it all the time.
It has a search function where you can search by ingredients, just as you describe, and it will generate recipes with those ingredients. |
I think the washington post recipes website lets you search by (at least some) ingredients and I think allrecipes.com may have a feature that does as well. |
I would google chicken orange raisins recipe -- and go from there.
maybe this one? http://southernfood.about.com/od/skilletchicken/r/bl40320y.htm http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Orange-Chicken-with-Golden-Raisins-and-Figs-106260 When I added Moroccan I didn't get anything interesting. But if you take out the orange, and do chicken raisins moroccan, you get this: http://www.recipezaar.com/Moroccan-Chicken-Thighs-With-Chickpeas-and-Raisins-154133 That's the dark meat you have, with added chickpeas. And if you sub lemon for orange and olives for raisins ![]() http://elise.com/recipes/archives/001828moroccan_chicken_with_lemon_and_olives.php |
you guys rock, thank you! |
food network has a similar search engine |
Mediterranean Chicken In a large bowl, place your ingredients and add the following: Olive Oil Brown Sugar Red Wine Venegar Bay Leaves Green Olives Capers Marinate over night, pour it into shallow pan, bake, occasionally basting marinade over chicken until done. Serve with cous cous or rice with tossed with butter and grapefruit zest. Enjoy!! |
In epicuious.com you can select main ingredients and it will give you the recipe, i think in foodnetwork, you only search by main ingredient. |
