The Anthem

I'm planning on taking my daughter to a show at the Anthem and was wondering if anyone has tips for getting there, dinner, etc. I thought we might park in Georgetown and take the water taxi to the wharf. I think we'd have to Uber back to Georgetown because it doesn't look like the water taxi runs past 8:45pm.

Can anyone explain how to buy the "Super Excellent Seats"? They keep mentioning these on the website, but no instructions as to how to purchase - it looks like all seating is Gen. Admission.

Any thoughts from those who have BTDT would be great! TIA.

Don’t know who your seeing there, but if it’s close to sold out you’ll have to get there early to stake out prime standing and viewing. Super excellent seating is very expensive, but call the place and ask how you can get seats if that’s what you’d prefer. Parking and driving there is an absolute nightmare, so good plan for Uber. Idk about water taxi.

We usually spot hero a parking spot a few blocks away toward L'Enfant. I think it might be a pain to get an uber when the show gets out but I've never tried it so maybe it's not.

All the places at the wharf for food fill up before a show so we usually eat somewhere else. Never looked into "super excellent seats"-- GA seems perfectly fine.

Sometimes the line to get in can take a long time. I think they've been working on improving that, but if there's an opening act you really want to see I'd get there a little on the early side.

Thanks for the info, PPs. Some more questions: if I don't want to see the concert but want to be inside the facility (the kids attending are 14 and 15 yrs. old), do I still have to buy a ticket? Some places have a lounge for that purpose (parents waiting), but I don't know if the Anthem does.

And as far as GA - do you think it's safe for girls that age to be packed into standing room only GA? I could just go in with them, but I know they'd prefer to see the concert on their own. Not sure if it's a "mosh pit" type of atmosphere.

Everyone needs a ticket. You could hang out at the 2nd or 3rd floor bar area if you don’t want to be with them - they could easily find you there.

Super excellent are sold on the site if they are available. If you don’t see them, they are sold out.

Safety depends on the band/crowd. The venue runs tight security so they could always get help nearby. I would prefer my teen be in the back of the main floor or on one of the upper levels - if you get pushed up the middle of the main floor ga, it can be hard to get out (I get claustrophobic down there in the middle).

And, uber is a pain right after the show because everyone wants one. I would rather park nearby and get put more quickly.

Thanks!

What band? That would determine whether the crowd is calm enough for young teens, but in general it should be fine. The Anthem and other IMP venues are very strict and very responsible.

FWIW I took a couple of teens to a show I wanted to see and I ended up hanging towards the back of GA floor where it wasn’t very crowded and they went up to one of the balcony areas where there are fewer people. With texting it’s pretty easy to check in/meet up (at least compared to when I was growing up).

I've ubered twice after attending shows there. Everyone is doing it and the road is congested but considering - it went pretty smooth for me. I mean, you can see your driver on the app so it's not like it was hard finding which car was for me.

why are you not just ubering directly there? either way uber pic up on Main Avenue is kind of insane, just take uber all the way home.

OP here. We may Uber there, but I think it would be a lot more fun and more of an "event" to take the water taxi from Georgetown.

Billie Eilish. I'm thinking the crowd will probably be teenaged girls, but I could be wrong.

OP here. Well, that was disappointing. Ticket sales opened at noon, and by 12:02 everything was sold out. Unbelievable.

Sorry to hear that— but I didn’t even realize she was coming to town. Next time maybe look for a presale.
