How much do you spend a year on dog ownership, ball park?

Excluding crazy health issues etc

Just like basic maintenance

$80 grooming about twice a year, I bathe him monthly
$20 food a month (Fromm), I would probably save if I bought the big pack however I cannot carry that alone
$10 treats monthly
$20 or so a year for new toys
$20 a new outfit around the cold weather yearly
$120 on shots every two years

840 on grooming
3600 on walking service
2000 on daycare
500 on check ups and medication
350 on food
240 on barkbox

In other words, a shit ton. And this does not include the facts that our dog is nuts so we take him to the behaviorist which is $$$$$$$$. He has a great life.

This is a good place to start. Grooming will vary depending on breed. Food costs can also vary. You will also need to check with your vet to see prices of a yearly exam and vaccination schedule. Another thing to consider is boarding or sitter costs.

250/month midday walker
60/month on other walks when we are out for the day, etc.
60/month+ food, treats, toys
40/month bath/grooming

400/year vet visit, vaccines, and flea, tick, heartworm meds
350/year pet insurance

My dog has a better life than most humans.

Her basic expenses are food ($75/mo for fancy stuff), meds ($20/mo for flea and heartworm) and kennel when we are both travelling ($50 mo on average but that could mean $300 in one month). Overall $1000-2000 year barring major health events (dental cleaning, etc). She is worth 100 times every cent, though.

Annual cost for my 50lbs dog:

$700 food and occasional treats
$200 toys and living accessories (crate, brush/comb, harness, leashes, collars, etc)
$700 vet, tick med, heartworm med, vaccines, etc

I bought a Roomba ($250) and dog blow dryer ($200).

He has a medical condition necessitating expensive prescription food right now, but hopefully not for life.

His coat is high-maintenance and I groom him myself - don't trust the people in this area.

I stay home and we do not pay someone to walk him.

10-pound dog:

$120/year for food ($10/month)
$300/year for shots, checkups, etc.
$150/year for Frontline/Heartworm treatment (you want this in this area of the country)
$75/year for toys, etc.

Fortunately, my dog doesn't need any special grooming. I bathe her in the laundry sink. As you dog gets a little older, you might need some regular health maintenance such as annual teeth cleaning ($200). My dog has this done every 2-3 years. I do have to take her to the vet to have her anal sacs expressed every few months ($20 each visit).

Basic stuff
$1200 for meds and exams
$600 teeth cleaning every few years
$40/month for food
$100/6 weeks for grooming
$15/day walk
$50/night whenenver we go out of town

$1000/year on vet stuff (including all preventative meds, shots, exams, and the inevitable yearly episode where she eats something she shouldn’t or breaks a tooth or is limping for days. Every year at least once something like this happens).
$300/year food
$300/year for a week long petsitter
$10000000 in impulse buy treats and toys

The biggest cost is training though. I’ve become a training junkie, and take dog sport classes that are $200 every 6 weeks. Trials on the weekend are $75/day. I easily spend $2-3k a year on training costs, but it’s my hobby like most of have.
