If your child has the flu, how long does she have to wait to receive the vaccine?

Anonymous
My daughter probably has the flu, sent home from school by the nurse. Main symptoms: fever, cough. Doctor told us not to bring her in as she is not in a high-risk group (e.g., asthma, heart condition, etc) and was in good spirits. I assume I should still try to get the vaccine for the kid. Right?

Technically, if you haven't had the formal test for swine flu, then you should still get the vaccine if you want it.

Practically speaking, there's no real seasonal flu going around yet, so your daughter most likely has swine flu, and no vaccine would be necessary as she's building antibodies to it right now.

Yes, I will ask my doctor, but I posted this on a Saturday. I'm interested in folks have already had this experience - just so I have a general idea before I get to talk to the doc.
