We currently have it (maybe 30 years old?) and are building a new kitchen. I was going to go with hardwood to match the rest of the house, but am going to miss how easy vinyl is to clean. I like the look of tile but not the feeling. If the rest of the kitchen is pretty nice with all new mid-range appliances and cabinets, is this flooring terrible?

Where did you find that? That looks like what we had originally. That would be cool to replace ours with. I put down a $50 vinyl floor and absolutely love it - 10 years later it still looks new and is so easy to clean. |
I absolutely love that and would do it in a heartbeat. My aunt has my favorite all-time kitchen floor. It's marmoleum. |
LVT (luxury vinyl tile) is the new cool thing. Cheaper, quieter and easier maintenance than hardwood or ceramic/porcelain tile. |
Looks like what my parents installed in the 70s, only orange and yellow instead of blue and yellow. If you like it, do it. If I bought your house next, I would RIP it put and put in jars wood before moving in. |

I figure it would be good while kids are little, and if we feel like changing it, it's not expensive and we can easily replace it. I'm also considering marmoleum, but have concerns about maintenance. |
I have been looking and looking for LVT in a pattern but everything is fake wood or fake stone. Do you know where I could find an LVT that actually looks like a fun tile? |
OP, it all depends on the size of your kitchen and the width of the product. No seams. If has to cover your entire kitchen from wall-to-wall, both width and length |
I have marmoleum. Installed it 5-6 years ago and no maintenance issues at all. Still like it a lot. |
I love vinyl in our kitchen — so easy to maintain! I hate wood in kitchens. I also like that pattern! Wonder how much installation would be. I was shocked last time I priced vinyl. |
That looks great and it will be easy (and cheap) to change out if you sell. |
That's a fun tile, do it! Especially if you have kids, go vinyl. We just renovated and put the wood looking luxury vinyl tile in the kitchen. It's not as nice aesthetically as hardwood, but no way am I dealing with that maintenance until the kids are grown. If you get sick of it or want to sell, it's easy to replace. I don't see the downside. |
+1 In terms of resale, it's much easier to replace so is a plus in that sense (a kitchen with tile you hate that has to be demo'd is much worse). Do what you like / can afford and don't worry about it. |
marmoleum, vinyl etc.. all garbage, use hardwoods or tile. |
Thanks.. I'd love to switch ours to something like that as that is what we had originally (saved a piece). We are really happy with ours. It was a $50 off the shelf sheet from Home Depot and its held up 10 years perfectly. I got it figuring I can replace it if it wore out but it still looks good. I would not get the plank in the kitchen. I have it in the basement and love it too but it has seams. |
