I don't know if this problem is common or not, but I have trouble finding underwear that doesn't dig into my sides and create the muffin top-look. I'm a size 6 and could definitely stand to lose a few pounds, but that doesn't help me right now. I have found that when I try to simply size up in underwear, it's too big elsewhere even if it doesn't dig in at my hips. I tend to end up buying only low-cut thongs because the sides come underneath this trouble area. Does anyone else have this issue? I need some new underwear, preferably not thongs, and have picked up a few pairs here and there but they have the same problem. Any brand recommendations you may have? |
VS breathable underwear. I am not sure of the correct name though |
Just want to say I agree OP. I can be careful on my jeans/pants by buying the right fit. But my underwear often creates its own muffin top whih can still be seen through (or makes the jeans hit funny or something). |
I like Natori Bliss French Cut. I size up to large, and they are perfect. |
I've had good luck with the Maidenform lace-back tanga.

Soma vanishing edge |
OP here - yes I do own some of these and they're pretty good! Sometimes they ride a little high on me, but it's manageable. The Soma vanishing edge looks too high-waisted for me - not all of my pants would even come up over those. The Natori ones mentioned also look good and Nordstromrack.com has some, so I might pick some up. Thanks for the recommendations! |
There are different cuts of Soma vanishing edge - not all are high. And FWIW, underwear that doesn't come up high enough is what is causing the muffin top! |
Aerie has no show underwear. They lay completely flat and have no edging or stitching or bands along the edges. They’re so comfortable and don’t dig in. I’m the same size as you, OP, and I understand! |
Yummie underwear |
Bingo, if you don't want muffin top, you have to wear higher rise pants and then higher rise underwear. |
Sounds like my grandpa’s style |
Ew, GTFO |
Right, muffin top is so much cuter than just wearing high-waist jeans. |
Yes. I'm heavier than the OP, but just bought some anti-muffin-top briefs and they look like granny undies but they work. I don't mind that they're taller than my pants, as my shirts cover that. |
