| why not move ATS to Patrick Henry site and then create a new neighborhood school at ATS site? can't see the urgency of giving Montessori program its own building. |
Move it to the old Patrick Henry site or the new proposed site? |
old. |
I'm not super familiar with ATS, and the area surrounding it. How does that help them and that neighborhood? Where do those kids (not lotteried into ATS) go now? |
| McKinley or Glebe I think, maybe some Ashlawn. All of which are overcrowded. |
| ATS is all lottery - no neighborhood automatically sends their kids there. |
| this would help Ashlawn the most, Mckinley 2nd. |
| ATS is untouchable. |
Untouchable how? |
ATS - the physical building - has a neighborhood surrounding. So, it could serve a neighborhood. |
| I think I would be fine with ATS being moved to the old Patrick Henry site- as long as it's open to south Arlington kids first and any left over slots can go north. |
Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of moving a choice school south? |
Not if it serves almost exclusively south Arlington kids. Relieves our overcrowding and gives us an out from neighborhood schools. |
South Arlington needs seats. Moving ATS doesn't solve this problem. Moving Montessori opens space up at Drew. |
Very unlikely to have such preference. There was a law suit few years back to keep it a true county wide lottery. |
