My 11 year old DD would like to be a goalie to augment her chances at being picked up by travel teams. She thinks there is less competition for goalies.
Any good winter clinics? We live in NW DC and willing to drive to close by Bethesda or Mclean. |
| We're interested in this too. My DC did and loved a goalie clinic with Stoddert a few years ago, but they subsequently closed it to only kids doing the "Stoddert Travel" league, not kids in Stoddert Rec league. We keep asking if they'll open it up again but... they don't. We'd definitely do a private coach if we heard of one. |

Try PPA or Brit-Am. I think they will be closest to you. If you’re willing to travel to Germantown, I believe SAM offers keeper clinics at the soccerplex. MSI also used to offer goal keeper clinics. All of these would be appropriate for rec or select level players. I know she wants to try out for travel but most clubs only provide keeper training for their own players.
If she’s 11 now, it sounds like she’s already playing u12 and will be trying out at u13. That’s a little late to break into travel but she is correct that being able to play goalie will give her an edge. It’s a complex position and requires specialized training so it’s good she’s willing to put in the work. |
| In past winters, Brit-Am has had really good keeper clinics at Next Level. |
| Mid-Atlantic Sports Academy has good 1-on-1 coaching and very nice Summer clinics. |
