I'm due to have our baby next week, and DH would like to get vaccinated (as is the recommendation for caregivers of infants under 6 months). So far, we've struck out with the Farragut clinic that had them as of yesterday; they're no longer taking appointments due to concerns about supply. My OB's office has said that they will offer them once they're finished with all the pregnant and high risk clients, but that could be a little while. Anyone have any leads? Will the DC clinics give him one, or is that just for pregnant women and children?
Thanks in advance! |
| Sorry, no leads but which OB practice do you go to? And was it a low-thimerisol (Novartis) shot? |
| DC is not administering vaccines to all CDC priority groups -- just women and children. However, MoCo is giving the vaccine to all CDC priority groups, which would include your husband (I called to confirm for my husband since I am also pregnant and due this winter). |

Has this changed? When I was at DC's Cardozo clinic, they were vaccinating "caregivers" of newborns, infants under 6 mos. I think.
OP's DH doesn't technically qualify at the moment, I know, but if she's as huge as I was at 39 weeks, and she goes to the clinic, I bet they'd give her DH a shot bc it would be pretty obvious he's gonna be a "caregiver" any minute now. |

Husbands qualify as caregivers even before baby is born because they will be a caregiver of an <6mos infant during flu season. So yes, either accompany your very pregnant partner in a MoCo clinic.
I was at Hine the other day and they were vaccinating only kids and pregnant ladies. |
