Health and Medicine
I'm not for sure that I have it yet, but we just traveled on a plane on Monday so I think it's a possibility. Obviously I can't keep my baby away from me, so . . . beyond washing hands/hand sanitizer, is there anything else I can do to try to prevent him from getting whatever I have?
Talk to your pediatrician. Maybe get a medical mask to wear when you are at home or holding the baby?
If you're breastfeeding, keep doing so.
You are providing natural antibodies through your breastmilk - that's the best way to keep him from getting it - plus don't sneeze on him - but even then, you are giving him immunity through breastfeeding.
OP, I just got over the flu and have a 5 month old that I nurse. I wore a mask and washed my hands alot, but I nursed the entire time, even sleeping with the baby one night and he did not get the flu. I think the antibodies you are passing him may help keep him healthy, just do your part in washing your hands, surfaces and wear a mask when you can. I wore it when my fever was the highest.

Just saw this -- interview with the CDC that totally answers your question. Good luck, hope you all stay healthy. |
