You think having Jones as AG would be a good thing? Really?

Absolutely. I’m totally mystified that people that don’t understand that Trump’s complete disregard for the Constitution is an imminent threat to our country. VA needs an AG that will stand up against Trump’s abuses. A republican toady as AG is not in VA’s interest.

You seem to think Jones can sue the federal government to rehire people. That's a complete waste of taxpayer money.

Does Miyares support Trump’s efforts to destroy the economy of our region? Yes. That makes him a nonstarter for me. I want an AG that will fight for the interests of Virginians, not Trump.

I wish you understand how you sound. Your rational is comical. Trump could care less about VA so its irrelevant.

Nice try, but fail. Trump wants to control every state AG and governor possible. He doesn’t want anyone to stand in his way and knows that if Miyares is elected Miyares will help overturn election results in 2026 and 2028, issue legal opinions validating deployment of National Guard troops in NoVA, erode civil rights such as the ability of women to divorce and the ability of gays to marry, among others. Democrats must win at every level.

Exactly.

Trump has no desire to infringe people’s right to divorce. Do you actually think that’s a possibility? Do you lose any sleep over these thoughts? How do you think Trump will turn election results? It is actually hardened democrat Marc Elias who brings all the lawsuits seeking to disenfranchise people.
As for gay marriage - that is something that may be at risk, but not because of Trump exactly, but because there is a case before SCOTUS that invites SCOTUS to walk back Obergefell.

What about Vance? Mr Born Again Catholic? You think the demented orange sack of sht is really going to make it all four years?

The religious nutters are calling the shots from the sidelines. Actually they wrote the whole playbook.

I wouldn’t think they’d come after divorce but these fvkers have constantly shocked with new lows.

Who knows what the next Big Lie will be? I want an AG to defend Virginia instead of embracing the nuttery.

DP, a) he can join class actions with other states to fight unlawful firings, which is something an AG should be doing to protect their constituents from unlawful actions by the president of the U.S., b) it’s not a waste of tax dollars considering this administration’s unlawful actions have been economically terrible for Northern VA, which is the economic engine of the state affecting people outside this immediate area.

The AG of Virginia is supposed to be *for Virginians* not someone who will suck up to and roll over for whatever some psycho dictator in the White House wants to. We really need some strong democratic leadership after Youngkin spent his term in lockstep with MAGA in furtherance of his Republican career aspirations.

What have they done that is a “new low”? Enforcing laws is the Constitutional mandate of the executive branch.

Following Sandy Hook, Democrats and some Republicans supported a bipartisan gun control bill. It passed in the House and received 54 votes in the Senate, but it needed 60. Democrats can't do it alone because of the filibuster in the Senate.

It didn't pass because the vast majority of Rs didn't support it.

This has a very government shutdown blame game kind of feel to it.

There really isn’t a connection between the government shutdown and the AGs race. The VA AG has zero to do with the shutdown. You’re really reaching here, and I understand why, but it isn’t logical.

DP, but it brings back the focus to the fact that this current administration’s agenda causes 1,000,000 x more harm than some mean texts from 3 years ago, and therefore we should be forward thinking with our vote. We need guardrails in VA against Trump. Standing on morals over a text message is going to cause us to end up occupied by the national guard during Trump’s third term.

Exactly. We need someone who will defend Virginians, not enable Trump.

Protecting our school kids shouldn’t be a game.

Why wouldn’t 90% of Republicans support the most basic common sense gun law - universal background checks?

Why did Miyares vote against universal background checks when it came up for vote in VA?

Tell me how universal background checks would work. I’m not opposed to it potentially, but I need you to explain it.

Details about the very basic 2013 bill.

Why would anyone oppose this? It’s arguably too benign.

Tell that to the women dying in states that banned abortions. Oh no, you can’t, they’re dead.

“Women living in US states that have abortion bans, such as Louisiana or Texas, are almost at twice the risk of dying during pregnancy, childbirth, or shortly after giving birth than women in states where abortion is legal and accessible, concludes a report by the US non-profit Gender Equity Policy Institute.1” https://www.bmj.com/content/389/bmj.r879.full

I’m familiar with this, but it’s not detailed.

Would the background check be online or will both parties have to travel to a gun shop?

Will there be a cost?

Will it be instant?

The more laborious the process the less I’d support it.
