Yes, but likely not somewhat darker, that is normal. My own dd is now ash blonde, in winter, ash brunette more, in the summer way, way blonder at 18. I am a dark brunette and now closer to 50, my own hair is changing to that dark auburn brown shade, but my ends are lighter brown/red. |
Eh I'm a redhead in mourning for the loss of vibrancy in my hair color as I age. I totally get it. Your hair color can be a big part of your identity when it's a less common color, a part of what makes you you. |
Funny, I am above pp auburn brunette and my hair is so much more vibrant at almost 50. Got that nice dark reddish undertone that just shines. I use hair gloss, that is what I do, thanks to dcum advice! Unless you are all the way grey? I went to cover a few greys(very few) and spend money on low-lights few weeks ago, and should have gone to an older hairdresser. This young, well meaning hair dressed that does my dds blonde hair, had no idea how to color dark hair with grey! I spend good money and two days later the color washed out from my grey hair! Dcum also recommended semi permanent hair gloss, and huge thanks for that! I will be trying it. As my hair was not colored prior to this fiasco, I had no need for any treatment so I had no clue about all that is available! My hair looks so much better now than even! Except when I was pregnant with ds, men, that was some miracle hair I had then! |
[b] Boo to blondes. Nothing is prettier than a fairy like redhead or a beautiful pale brunette with glossy chestnut hair and ice blue or green eyes. |
All I can say is thank god approximately zero of my brain cells have ever been worried about this. Not for myself nor my offspring. What a completely moronic thing for your child to attach her identity to. Shame on OP. |
My son’s hair darkened at 18.

Same here. Mine didn't get dark blonde/light brown until I had kids around 40. |
Yes, but there's a difference between being a brunette and being a blonde who turns dark blonde/very light brown when older. It doesn't have the richness of brunette hair. (Brunette here who was lighter brown when younger, but never blonde.) My best friend was white blonde, now her natural color is a dishwater dark blonde. It's very different from brunette hair and she doesn't like it. She lightens it. |
PP here, I meant to say NO , of course it's not bad being a brunette. Mistype. |
