Also, had the poster gotten in line at 8:30, he wouldn't have had a 4 - 6 hour wait...more like a 2 hour wait. A 4 hour wait was very atypical, not the norm. And while it's not the bubonic plague, it could be very serious for families like mine, with a family member with kidney disease, an organ transplant, a suppressed immune system due to anti-rejection medication, and resulting heart disease. Perhaps the poster isn't particularly concerned about this flu, but for my family, this flu could be devastating. I'm very grateful that a vaccine was developed quickly and is being made available reasonably efficiently to those at high risk. |

H1N1 Vaccination Provided to All Eligible Clinic Attendees
Oct. 24, 2009 OPA 205/09 The 2009 H1N1 vaccination was provided to 4,331 eligible attendees—pregnant women and children ages 6 to 36 months—at today’s Fairfax County Health Department clinic, held at the Fairfax County Government Center. see the rest here: http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/news/2009/h1n1-vaccination-clinic.htm |
Wow, that's it? So much for running out of vaccines.... |
| I went at 4:55 and they sent me back!!!!! |
| Did they have flu mist for kids? |
Check their website-it seems that they are going to be offering it to the same target population at the health departments. You may still have the opportunity to get the vaccine. |
You showed up at closing time. You have to take responsibility for that. I've seen your type. It's all hurry hurry hurry because you couldn't plan and you are running late. You make a heroic run up the steps to a store, only to find the doors locked. And you are outraged because your watch says 8:58 and the store says it's open until 9. It's not their fault that they didn't synchronize watches. It's your fault that you don't get anywhere on time. |
I took it as they let her in (i.e. sent her back to be vaccinated). |
| My 22 month-old son and I (I'm pregnant) arrived at 4:59 PM and they let us in. No lines at all and very, very well organized with tons of volunteers guiding you every step of the way. I had already completed the forms on-line, so the only waiting was after the vaccination to make sure my son didn't have any adverse reactions. Kudos to Fairfax county and the corps of volunteers! |
| This may have already been asked, but does anyone know if the true cutoff is 36 months? My son is 38 months (today actually), and I'm desperate to get him vaccinated, not just for his sake but also b/c of his 5-month-old baby sister at home. |
They were not checking on Sat., although you would have to lie in the form about the DOB. And they were handing little fl yers saying they were targeting ONLY 6 to 36 months and pregnant women. Your call. |
Well I would not lie on the form, esp. since I've heard that the dosage in the vaccine is actually different under/over 36 months. Guess I'll just have to hope they expand the age range soon. |
I got there at 7:45 and waiting for 3.5 hours. Once the line started moving around 10:30 it went by pretty quickly. Very nice, very organized and I am so relieved that even though I am due any minute my baby still has a some sort of protection! I feel like I am part of history. Haha
