Remember when 38-year-old Jerry Seinfeld dated a 17-year-old high schooler?

Thank God. If there's one perk from being preyed upon by an older man, at least that's a tiny silver lining. Still horrible but at least she got something from that ordeal.

You are probably amazed because you have never traveled outside the US. This is quite common and acceptable in many cultures. Life can be quite difficult for unattractive women in most countries.

Actually I've lived in foreign countries, and no it's not common, not where I lived. Don't use the desperation of some women in certain cultures as a scare tactic for Western women. Spoiler alert: it won't work.

I don't think anyone cares if you think it's acceptable or not. It is very acceptable throughout Asia and South America. Guys will always try to score with young, attractive women. And most of the guys dating American women are usually only doing it because they are stuck in the US and don't have any other options.

She, too. Had parental consent. .

That poor girl! She looked emotionally and physically used up already at that point.

Well you should care whether it's acceptable or not, and whether people think it's acceptable or not, because most of us don't and the laws are changing to reflect that. They're even cracking down in many of the Asian countries famous for the old unwanted males who go there to rape prostitutes.

Any guy with the option wants to date American women, or women from their home country. That's why there's a stereotype of these men who have to do "sex tourism" as being old unwanted virgin losers.

Which would a sane person want- an American who speaks the same language, who he can bring around his peers without them laughing about a "mail order bride", who genuinely wants him and has other options but has chosen him... orrrr an unwilling Thai girl who he had to buy?

Seinfeld isn’t running for US Senate. He’s also not a moral values “champion” who relies on his image as a anti-immorality stalwart to further his career and influence.

I wouldn’t vote for Seinfeld either.

Interesting. I never heard that. I'm someone who has always followed celeb gossip and what I heard was that he was dating a GW (college) student. So I had no idea she was 17 when they met.

Big thing here - this was a time before social media and even wide use of the internet. I think people could get away with a lot more. Doesn't make it any more right - I actually think it's gross and it definitely makes me like Seinfeld less. If he was running for an office I wouldn't vote for him, for sure.

If you are Roy Moore's PR people, you are not helping yourself here. Scott Disick is totally gross, his own family nicknamed Lord Douche, and he is a MAJOR drug addict. Like, big time drug problem.

I actually remember a National Enquirer TV commercial about the week’s issue featuring Seinfeld and his teenage girlfriend.

Seinfeld didn't an episode about ogling a 15 year old girl.

It was in People magazine and NY POST. But of course he could do no wrong -- Jerry was a cash cow.

I remember this story very well. It got a lot of press and he was heavily criticized.

Well I was in high school, definitely not reading people or the post, and way more interested in the cast of 90210 than what jerry Seinfeld was up to. But I suppose it is comforting to know people criticized it. It is gross and weird. I wonder how he feels about it now that he has daughters approaching that age.
