so for how many millennia do we need to accept every single person because we turned them way? btw, weren't they highly educated or something? or are we supposed to give preference to those who have uncle's uncle in the US, the way we do now?

Do not talk what you have no clue about. That tells badly about your intelligence and maybe you deserve to be deported replaced by some smart immigrant.

The immigration policy provides options for parents and siblings of US permanent residents or citizens to immigrate not uncle or uncle's uncle. You need to be permanent resident or citizen to even apply for them NOT just a mere visa holder.

Riiight. Except that a person brings a sibling who brings a spouse who brings a sibling so pretty quickly we have uncles uncle.

Except the waiting period even to get a sibling runs into decades. So your theory of chain migration letting people into this country to the tune of millions is possible if humans live for 200 years.

that is not true. it says in the documents/website it will take 20 years to bring ina sibling on reality it moves faster. not sure why, or maybe those people bring sibling illegally and merely start the paperwork.

You need to be a US citizen to apply for your siblings. You also need to wait 5 years to get citizenship after green card. Uncle's uncle is not coming in 50 years.

The annual quota is fixed. The number of immigrants we allow is a simple function of the quota the government sets. It takes years to go through the process. Your uncle's uncle will most likely die before he can complete the process. There is a long line and a fixed number of slots given each year.

As to who is allowed to come is a totally different question from the number of immigrants we are going to get. I don't think Miller understands the distinction.

didn't watch miller my point by was that currently we in fact to give preference to uncles uncle compared to a random foreign phd, say.

Uncles do not qualify for any immigration benefit.

yes but brothers and fathers do. somehow you have difficulty grasping that it's not families but clans that are coming to the US. culturally backward people tend to be more clannish.

Brothers have ridiculoulsy long waits. As much as 25 years. Only U.S. Citizens can bring fathers (or brothers) for that matter. I think you have no clue how immigration actually works. Clans have no way to immigrate at all. You are just making that shit up.

The big problem here is cutting legal immigrants by 50%. We need legal immigrants.

I am an immigrant idiot. who actually went through the process (and know many other who did) instead of reading some Cato pamphlet about it.

Not PP. But thank you for accepting you are an immigrant idiot. A self declared idiot is someone the country doesn't need. Could you please self-deport to wherever you came from.

you are a bigot. i know you are kind. loudly pro-immigrant but only ones inferior to you. be critical and it will "go back", "here is the door" in a second. now wonder you want illiterate clan immigration to continue.

You are an immigrant idiot? If you say so. I've practiced immigration law for more than a decade and have worked on more than 1000 cases, so that's a little more than a Cato pamphlet and your personal experience. Clans have no immigration rights at all.

i am sure your clients benefited enormously from your ability to spot a missing coma. nobody claimed that clans have a group right. neither to families. the point is that individual rights have as a consequence clan immigration.

furthermore, not all immigrants do this. my husband and i didn't bring anyone. it is precisely least assimilated and accomplished people who rely most on their extended families and are most likely to bring them to the US.

This

The government decides the quota per country. Maybe Miller can explain what those numbers ought to be. We do already have a merit based system for EB-1, EB-2, etc.

no, i made some typos on the phone because i switch between different keyboards.

there is nothing here to be "allowed to me"; i am as american as you are.

you wanted immigrants - you got them. if you think immigrants are thrilled to be here and are just gonna gratefully soak your values you are in for a rough ride .

That's a totally different issue.

I have no idea why Steve Bannon/Miller picked LEGAL immigration issue as the first immigration bill to bring up.

it's a related issue because the fact that they will be legalized eventually affects their behavior (they will come) and their odds of deportation.
