Best way to get straight hair - I found it

Anonymous
Just tried mine out for the first time. I didn't find it too loud/heavy and thought the results were pretty good...but not great. I think there might be a little bit of a learning curve to get great results. Anyone out there that LOVES it have some helpful tips?

I stopped using salon treatments and began 'co-washing' (conditioner only) every other day or so and using sulfate free shampoo only about once a week. Shampooing is very drying. I also added this http://www.keratincomplex.com/vitalshot into my hair regimen, it's an at-home keratin treatment I purchase from Amazon (~$5/use) and apply every three weeks or so. Since I started using this and not shampooing frequently, I find my hair is much shinier and manageable with no frizz at all  Also I colored to deep red like http://newaylook.com/best-dark-red-hair-ideas My friends cannot believe I even had frizz I also just purchased Moroccan Oil intense Hydrating treatment to try. Haven't used it yet, but I'll report my results back. It has great reviews both online and from my friends.

Your hair is gorgeous. I just ordered that keratin product--thank you!

I bought it from this thread as well. My hair doesn't have more volume, but it is very soft and not frizzy at all so I'm happy with it!

I went to Target and they only had the paddle brush -I was so disappointed, ran over to Bed Bath and Beyond and they applied the 20% off coupon and are shipping it free to my house! I can't wait to try it!

Ordered this based on OP's recommendation, and DD loves it!

Anonymous wrote:OP, do you still dry your hair in layers with this tool?

OP here - yes, I still dry my hair in layers similar to what I would do with a flat iron. But it goes much quicker and the final effect is smoother.

I got the one the OP suggest-- IT'S GREAT! She's right. It's a lot easier than holding the brush in one hand and wrangling your hair and the hair dryer in the other. Ends are much better.

Only challenge is that it's hard to dry the roots, and it is designed for volume, so if you like super flat roots, this isn't perfect.

My hair is thick, wavy/curly but very fine/frizzy, fyi.

OP here - so glad it is working for you!

A trick I learned recently. Instead of washing my hair that morning and then drying it, I wash my hair the night before, I don't dry it, I just pull it up into a very loose bun and then sleep on it. In the morning I shower with a cap on. After makeup, I dry my hair (which is still a bit damp) and it works great especially since the roots are mostly dry. To reiterate, I don't have very curly hair, just wavy. Not sure this would work with really curly hair.

I use a little dry shampoo on the roots if they look a little oily.

I also ordered one after reading the thread. Used it yesterday for the first time, and it was so fast! Thanks OP (you should really get some commission from Revlon for getting so many of us to buy it. )!!!

OP here - that is awesome! I consider it a public service announcement.

I just bought it after reading the reviews on there.

I'm this poster - OMG I JUST USED IT FOR THE FIRST TIME. (yes that's how often I - used to - blow dry my hair). This thing is unreal. It flat-dried my thick, wavy/frizzy/awful hair in 10 mins - looks like a salon blowout. BUY THIS NOW!

OP here - SO GLAD TO HEAR IT!

I no longer need to use any other styling tools to get it to look just like I walked out of the salon. Thank you!!!

I got mine this weekend. I ended up going with the paddle brush and probably would like the round one better, but yeah -- damn, it's smooth. and shiny. I avoided the roots issue by doing my makeup and getting dressed first. I think with a little practice, it will make a huge difference.

OP here - checking back in and I was very happy to see many satisfied ladies! I promise I am a real person. How many times do we all try products based on recommendations only to have them fail. Finally a product that worked! And it is not too expensive. I encourage everyone to buy one from somewhere you can return and at least try it.

I have wavy but not curly hair and it is thick but not hugely so. It works very well for my hair. I agree that using the traditional method of a round brush and hair dryer gives the same effect but that takes so long and both my arms get tired.

With this one, I can do it faster. I use the same method as I would with a round brush and dryer. But it is true that if you just washed your hair and it is very wet it might take quite awhile and the roots might be hard to get completely dry. A couple of ideas:

1. Dry your hair to where it is just damp with a regular dryer first
2. After you are done using the brush, go back over the roots just brushing them (with the dryer brush) - if that makes sense
3. This is what I do - wash hair the night before, pull it into a loose bun, then dry in the morning (still damp).

I don't use a protective heat product at this point, but once done drying I do use a Moroccan oil product to bring out shine and smooth everything.

The biggest thing that this did for me is it gave me the same results as very carefully drying with a normal hair dryer and a round brush but much, much quicker and only using one arm.
