| I had never heard of piggy paint. Thanks DCUM! My 3yo wants polish on her fingernails but I've only let her have it on her toes because she sucks her thumb. I wonder if the promise of piggy paint would work to bribe her to finally quit. Dentist has finally put the fear of orthodontia in my heart. |
| My mom was visiting and painted her fingers and toes. We agreed that nail polish on a three-year-old's hand just freaked us out, and removed it, but left it on her toes. |
+1 we also used it as a bribe for good behavior...and totally worked. Piggy Paint chips really quickly but she just like shaving it sometimes, even if it's 1/2 chipped off. |
| I let my 3 yo daughter wear nail polish. Pick your battles op. |
| On the rare occasion my girls ask I allow it and I am definitely conservative with stuff like this. But it's so harmless. Memorial Day weekend we went to Target and they each picked out a polish color and I painted their toes and hands that night. They're 2 and 6. |
NP. I don't "battle" with my toddler, over anything! I've taught her that sometimes I say yes, sometimes I say no, and sometimes I say not right now. She responds well to disappointment, and says "thank you" and shows appreciation when I say yes! |
This sentence makes no sense. My DS wore nail polish sometimes when he was a preschooler. He liked pink and sparkly things and Barbie dolls. He also liked matchbox cars and Legos and blocks and construction equipment and rough housing. He's 18 now and appears to be heterosexual. And yes, he was raised with a father in the house, not that that matters. Although his father frequently does dishes and laundry, so perhaps that was problematic? |
Seriously, half the boys at my kids' high school have pierced ears. I actually thnk that, unless a kid is consistently voicing serious displeasure with his/her gender, that it is very counterproductive and even harmful to make a big deal (like seeing a psychiatrist?!) out of a young kid's interest in things he/she sees the opposite sex parent do. I vividly remember wanting to pee standing up when I was a little girl, like my father and brother did. Doing it didn't make me gay or transgender (though it did make a mess). |
Oh, but see, the fact that your DH is a SAHD explains your DS's confusion.
^^that's sarcasm in case it's not obvious. |

I have two little girls ages 4 and 1. I've been using Piggy Paint since my 4 year old was a year old I love painting their nails! I did toes only for a long time, then stepped up to fingernails when my 4 year old turned 3. My 4 year old has even had a professional mani/pedi!! (not because of me though! Fancy bday party )

| I think it is totally trashy. And tacky. |
| Yep, piggy paint. |
This sort of this reminds me of the book, "All Grown Up and Nowhere To Go". What's the rush?? |
