“Alternative” is the operative word here. OTOH, Clinton used ONLY her private server. There is your difference.

Huh? "Alternative" is not the operative word, "private" is, which plenty of others have done.

Remember that if any of this stuff is actually classified, *anyone* sending or receiving those emails could be in trouble because they were not sent on a classified server, nor are they sitting on a classified server now.

Who said anything about Blumenthal?
It will be interesting to see WHO sent these emails.
And, how the FBI handles this situation with this person/these people.

One of the fully redacted (due to now being classified) emails is from Blumenthal. Clinton, once again, did not send any of these emails. Once again, none of the material was classified at the time.

You are listening to Clinton. We don’t know if SHE sent the emails yet. We do know that she CHOSE to have a server that was unsecured. THAT is the issue. If she had done what she was supposed to do, and used the State Dept. email, there would be no issue. This is ALL her making. And, as to the statement that the material was not classified at the time..... seems to me that what has happened here is that someone took information from classified emails (yes, classified, and likely marked as such), and related that classified information in an email to HRC. So, while the email itself was not classified, the information was. Once again, she should have known better. Her judgment is questionable, at best. But, she is a Clinton, after all, so she is not held to the same expectations of us regular people. She is above us.

Yeah, she did the same thing as her predecessor.

Perhaps true, perhaps not, but irrelevant anyway.

If the police stops you driving at 150 miles per hour in the highway, you cannot just say "but the car ahead of me was doing the same!" and expect to avoid punishment

Pleae, it's not irrelevant that this has been a relatively common practice which was indisputably widespread among senior Bush administration who not only used insecure servers, they also destroyed millions of emails. The hypocrisy of conservatives apparently knows no bounds.

Another Bush to blame ! No Democrats did it?

Guess you need it spelled out.
If they used a private account as an alternative, that means they were using a government account for classified information.
Hillary wasn’t. She had only her private account.

OK, then please tell me. If your goal is to have Clinton indicted, then what? Elect Trump or Cruz? Because that's a crazy plan, and shows yet again that none of this is thought out.

What I mean is, this all looks very politically motivated. And it also looks very dumb. Where's the chess game-type strategy here?

Ahh, a follower of Obama's Leadership School: Always blame Bush!

It's become so repetitive that it's funny! Seems that there aren't any Democrats or other Republicans to blame, only those with the last name Bush.

She used only a private account because she was not sending or receiving classified information by email. As has been stated many times, there are separate systems for classified and nonclassified email. Any information that is classified must be sent on a completely separate email system.

BS. If you take INFORMATION that is classified from a classified server and summarize it and send it on an unclassified server, you are breaking the law. There is nothing preventing someone from doing this, other than the threat that they may be prosecuted for doing so. Guess these folks thought they were above the law.

At this point, there is no evidence at this point that she did this. The information in question was not classified at the time it was shared. The FBI/DoJ are classifying it now. See the difference?

How clever. Bet you said the same thing about Bush and Cheney, right? By the way, you do realize that "good men" died in Benghazi prior to and irrespective of any alleged lies. Your faux concern is appalling.

That is what the Clinton campaign is saying. However, the intelligence agencies from which the information originated are saying it was classified from the start.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-clinton-emails-idUSKCN0QQ0BW20150821

"It's born classified," said J. William Leonard, a former director of the U.S. government's Information Security Oversight Office (ISOO). Leonard was director of ISOO, part of the National Archives and Records Administration, from 2002 until 2008, and worked for both the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush administrations.

"If a foreign minister just told the secretary of state something in confidence, by U.S. rules that is classified at the moment it's in U.S. channels and U.S. possession," he said in a telephone interview, adding that for the State Department to say otherwise was "blowing smoke."

In addition, Hillary Clinton herself instructed an aid to send classified information through nonsecure channels.

The State Department released more than 3,000 of Clinton’s emails from her time as secretary of State on Friday. One of the emails has drawn scrutiny because in it, Clinton, who was awaiting a secure fax detailing talking points, instructed an adviser to turn the talking points into “nonpaper w no identifying heading and send nonsecure” because the fax wasn’t coming through.

Her answer sounds reasonable:

“This is another instance where what is common practice — I need information, I had some points I had to make and I was waiting for a secure fax that could give me the whole picture, but oftentimes there is a lot of information that isn’t at all classified,” Clinton said Sunday on "Face the Nation." “So whatever information can be appropriately transmitted unclassified often was. That’s true for every agency in the government and everybody that does business with the government.”
