how rare are potty accidents in kindergarten

I've got a boy in K. He's had 3 accidents in school since October. He's had more accidents at home in the evening and still isn't night trained. There's merit to the constipation/holding #2 relationship to pee accidents. We added fiber and cut DS's cheese/milk consumption to help move things along and we've seen some improvements. A conversation with your child and with the teacher can go a long way. Talk to your child about going potty at school and remind him that its ok to ask to go potty. Talk to the teacher and ask her to gently remind your child to go more often. Above all else, pack extra pants/undies in your child's backpack.

Here is a thought:

How much time does your DS have in the a.m. before he goes to school? I have a DH who currently has "plumbing issues". On days when DH has to be out of the house in the early morning, he rises VERY early and eats breakfast VERY early. He tries to move around to get systems to "go"..........And, yes, one does affect the other.

If you are like my household, your kids probably get up and out fairly quickly. This might not be best for your DS. If you get out quickly, have you considered rising earlier and taking more time? It might help. Just a thought.

My DS had issues in preschool. It is not fun for him or you or the teacher. I understand the frustration.

If those are two isolated wetting events then something's going on at school. There are people who will tell you lies about your kid to cover their behinds. Listen to your child.

I've taught school. Two isolated incidents do not necessarily fall on the school. Lots of possibilities for reasons for accidents--waiting too long; not wanting to leave an activity; etc.

I taught K and first, and with the exception of one child, incidents such as these were rare. As for the one child, he had accidents every day. He was allowed to go to the bathroom anytime--without asking permission, and he still wet his pants. I also reminded him. FWIW, he also had accidents at home. Doctor said it wasn't physical.

I've been teaching kindergarten a LONG time. A few pee accidents a year? Maybe a diarrhea accident once? Sure. Poop accident once? Sure. All of that is typical. More than that, I'd assume trauma, a medical issue, some kind of something going on.
