So, it is ok for the OP to infer that this woman is treating her like crap because she is white, but if a black person says they are getting treated like crap because they are black, the black person is the problem. Agree, as is the bus driver and the waitress at the restaurant the PP's were posting about. I am white and I have similar stories, so does that make the black poster feel better/superior? I'm not saying that it doesn't happen. IMO, OP, as a white woman, just needs to suck it up. Whites in this country get so many more privileges over nonwhites every day that honestly, I don't care and don't particularly feel bad for the OP that she has to deal with this ONE person at ONE place in life. If I was being followed I would start playing games with the salesperson. First, lead them on a wild goose chase around the store. Then I'd exclaim loudly "I'm so glad that you are here! I really need some help!!" I'd follow with 101 questions about colors, style, fit, availability of items in their catalog, return policies, etc. Most of them won't want to work that hard so I'm guessing they'd back off and maybe think twice about what they are doing.

I can understand your point, PP, but as a white woman married to a black man, I get discriminated against on a regular too. I am often in situations where I am the only white person and yeah there are comments, eyerolls, nasty attitudes, I am regulary ignored at stores so on. Just saying, yeah my skin color is white but that doesn't mean I don't have to deal with nonsence from others, on a regular basis.

I am so freaking sick of hearing that because I am white, I do not "get" discrimination. Please...enough already you sound ridiclous. I get stereotyped all the time as a very short, petite, woman who looks like she is 16 years-old. I get laughed at when I order a drink, I have had the cops threatened to be called when I used my ID at a liquor store, I have people try to butt in front me in lines at places thinking I am a child and will not say anything, and the list goes on.

Not to mention I am a woman in a finance field that moved to the top quickly so I get looks and rude comments from men I work with about my ability a good amount.

I do not go through life throwing this in people's faces these negative experiences, nor do I act like I am a victim. I DO get what it is like so quit your bullshit already.

No one is saying that blacks are constantly on the lookout for racism. But, if you aren't black, you wouldn't have any concept about what it's like living in America. You don't get to dismiss our experiences just because you have lived through them.
