No laws restrict the Trump administration, which controls the strongest military on the planet.

The logical extension is this: we better hope for, pray for, and somehow manifest a future where our status as the lone superpower persists indefinitely.

The history of what happens when empires lose their “king of the hill” status is not a pleasant one. Seems others always seem to be waiting to take turns returning the favor of past abuses.

We are rapidly losing that status, which is why the neocons are going after everyone they can before they can’t anymore.

They don’t plan to stick around and face the consequences of course…

So yes this is the new world order. The free navigation of the seas and rule of law are no more. When the US invades and occupies Venezuela we will be able to extract oil without paying royalties to the locals. We also can take anything.

This administration is hell-bent on dismantling the command-and-control structures of narco-trafficking routes that funnel illicit drugs in to the U.S. and have contributed to the drug-death catastrophe that kills 100,000 Americans every year.

Just think of it as Washington DC regulations for your pet agendas that you know and love so much. In short, FAFO.

It's a fool's errand to think that drug flow can be meaningfully interrupted, but then again we all know Trump is a fool. Where this is demand, there is a way.

They may. It would be problematic if the US seized the vessel while in Venezuelan territorial waters. But from a practical perspective, there isn't anything they would do in the best of times other than send a diplomatic note saying that such actions are "imprudent".

What if there is a legit security threat?

China has been buying up land, businesses, and ports across the Caribbean—including in Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao which are a stone’s throw from Venezuela as well as in the Bahamas which is a stone’s throw from Florida. Plus elsewhere.

We know that oil is a commodity used to bankroll terrorism and governments that are committed to destroying us: Iran, China, and Russia.

Venezuela is a strategic partner for those countries, and odds are something was already happening and we needed to take action to deter further escalation (or worse).

Just because this administration is taking action doesn’t necessarily mean it’s entirely wrong on not necessary.

Literally every time I’ve vacationed in the Caribbean over the last 5-10 years, I’ve had multiple locals flag China’s race to establish a strategic foothold in the region…followed by, “why isn’t the US doing something?”

And I’m a bleeding heart liberal. But I can easily think of scenarios where it makes sense for us to take bold action…after all, this is in our backyard.

BTW, the Venezuelan vessel in question is transmitting false location data as part of its tradecraft to avoid sanctions. Why are you defending them?
