They did this in Baltimore and youth crime plummeted. But too many people don’t want to listen to solutions that don’t involve punishment. How would private prisons make money? |
| Paying youth not to murder is insane. |
Actually, traffic deaths are *incredibly* rare in DC. You sound like Trump. Do you think DC is a "hellhole"? Do you also think everyone is getting murdered? |
Sigh. DC already has all of these programs, in spades. We've had them forever. Like, since before you were born. |
Where did you make that inference? I just don't care about people getting traffic tickets for moving violations. It's at the very bottom of the list of my concerns with the justice system. |
DP, but what’s “puzzling” is that you think people choose their sexual orientation. |
99% certain the person you’re responding to considers themselves a “Christian.” They’ll lie and deny it now, of course, because anonymous message board. But they’re so very “Christ-like.” 🙄 |
People don't drive like maniacs here, at all. The streets are incredibly safe, especially for a large city. But somehow we still manage to hand out 3 million tickets to a city with only 300,000 drivers, but, at the same time, we search for reasons not to prosecute teenagers who beat random senior citizens to death. This why Trump is going after DC -- because some of the stuff we do is straight up crazy. |
So why are they getting tickets? Are you saying the cameras are wrong or that the violations are so low-level that they should be taken off the books or otherwise not enforced? Are you saying this is a "large city" or a "city with only 300,000" drivers? I'm not following. I see people running red lights and cutting people off multiple times a day every single day. |
People don't drive like maniacs in DC? I've been sitting at a red light behind two other cars to have some lunatic pull around everyone else, go squealing up the oncoming lane, blow through the red light and make a left without even pausing to look. I've seen people leaning on their horns screaming like lunatics at the car in front of them when it's stopped for pedestrians who have the walk sign lit and right of way to cross. I've seen cars go flying down residential streets going 60+ mph. There are definitely a crap load of lunatics and bad drivers. Also, I wonder if you are even from DC. DC may only have 300,000 drivers but anyone who spends any time at all on DC streets knows that 80% of the cars on DC streets have MD and VA tags. Many of those horrible drivers on DC streets aren't from DC. I think you clearly don't know what goes on here. |
Your math is off. The Chicago metro area has around 9 million people. The DMV metro area has 5.6 million people. The Chicago metro area is only 1.6 times bigger than the DC metro area. |
I agree- I also see people pull around cars stopped at red lights, or cars stopped at stop signs. Regularly - not as a one-off. I will say it's people from all 3 jurisdictions though. I have seen abysmal behavior from adults in luxury SUVs with DC plates |
| How about we pay underage girls and boys not to pregnant? |
It means murderers run the city. |
Looking at the city limits, sweetie |
