Pretty, long sleeve tops

The fact that someone prefers bland sweaters and conservative wear tells me they are very comfortable or very trapped in the status quo; their violent reaction to Desigual tells me that Desigual is doing its job: challenging the mindless following of the masses.

Oh please. It's mall clothing. The Spanish version of Wet Seal.

Ha! I went to the web site expecting to see something interesting. But nope. Agree with the Wet Seal vibes.

Me too. I love shopping at TJ Maxx as I find all sorts of things and for what it’s worth I have no problem spending upwards of 300 on these kind of shirts. For whatever reason I get good fines at Ross, Marshalls and TJ Maxx and end up getting more compliments on those than what I buy in Nordstrom.

Isn’t it the same clothes as you’d buy in Nordstrom or Bloomingdales, with discounted pricing due to overstock or last year’s season or whatever?

Haha I was just about to say Spanish Ed Hardy.

Speak for yourself. I'd definitely wear that on a date.

To the Desigual trashing crowd: I didn’t say the clothing was beautiful, only that it was non-conforming. The fact so many are having a violent reaction is predictable, especially DC. And for the “landfill” comment, Deaigual started as an upcycling project and they still upcycle fabrics, rely heavily on patchwork and source organic cotton.

And no I have absolutely nothing to do with the company and don’t even own a single piece of their clothing. It’s not my style, but I appreciate the intent behind it.

I also went to the WetSeal website, nice try.

For someone who says they have "absolutely nothing to do with the company," you seem to be protesting just a tad. Who cares? Their clothing is hideously ugly.

That shittastic garment was poly. Your comment is overwrought. Your taste is absolute garbage. Move on.

Not the poster you’re replying to but that was unnecessarily mean. A bit over the top and too much for a fashion board. I agree the poster’s fixation with that brand and her comments about DC fashion are strange but seems easy to let her do what she wants, disagree, and move on.

Back to the main topic— what about Reiss, Mint Velvet, All Saints, Black Halo — any luck with those brands OP? I think all of them are at Bloomingdales or Nordstrom

What has taken their place? I mean, we all have to wear tops....so I'm curious.

Yes, I think they’re a bit dated. WHBM should have some (go to store for middle aged / older cougars and I’m not saying that rudely)

NP. How on earth are pretty, long sleeve tops "dated"?

No idea, but tell me if you find a good one being sold today that isn’t a sweater or knit. The look now is layers (eg tank and Veronica Beard blazer or cardigan) or knit tops. Those nice long sleeve silk or high quality cotton or satin or whatever tops from the 2010s aren’t in and there’s a reason you aren’t finding any you like - they aren’t really being made.

The look now also leans away from details like prints/florals or embroidery or any of the stuff Anthropologie was known for and more toward solids and stripes.

I am probably the only one who thinks this, but I detest stripes unless they are thin vertical pinstripes. I think horizontal stripes usually look kind of mumsy.

They are out there on every website I've visited. Not sure who keeps pushing this weird narrative that "pretty, long sleeve tops" aren't in right now. They're literally always "in"!

Can you share the websites? I am finding a lot of sweaters or plain knit tops. Striking out on finding pretty blouses.
