exemption from TJ calc AB requirement

Anonymous
Permission to come school late or to leave school early - basically permission to not have full schedule if graduation requirements are satisfied.

I did not know this is possible. DC is a senior. Can they still drop a class or two if not needed to graduate?

Most kids take this course as a junior or even earlier. I dont understand OPs issue.

Kids who took A1H in 8th grade are on track to take Calc AB or BC as Seniors.

Most kids at TJ didn’t take Algebra I honors in 8th grade. This is behind compared to the majority of the students at TJ.

The new requirements mean that there are a good number of kids with A1H, I would guess the people asking about the waiver are parents of a kid who entered with only A1H.

I would guess that around 25% take it as freshmen, 50% takes it as Sophomores, 20% take it as Juniors, and the rest as Seniors. There are kids coming to TJ with only A1H and are starting with geometry. Some of those kids drop out and the rest will be on track for Senior year Calc. I don't know if that group will be more AB or BC but I think the rest of the school skips AB and goes straight to BC.

There are kids at TJ not taking calculus until their senior year? How does that happen?

A few years ago all the kids going to TJ had Algebra 2 by 9th grade at the absolute latest and calculus no later than junior year.
